#30 – An Introduction

Ok, 30. That wasn’t so bad.

It’s been almost two years since I crossed the threshold of this new decade, and let me tell you, it’s been pretty productive.

I kicked it off with an epic birthday in New Orleans with my best friends, celebrated the holidays in jolly old London, started my PhD program, moved to a sweet apartment on South Beach and spent the last two summers meditating in Nepal and adventuring in Africa.

30 has been busy and bright and I’ve had a lot less breakdowns than expected.

There are, however, a few fun discoveries now that I’m not in my 20s.

I like to call these discoveries hashtag 30.

For example:

Sat too long, upper hamstring hurts. #30

Hair thinning, grays emerging. #30

I’m literally 10 years older than everyone at this club. #30

Why the hell am I at this club? #30

3 day hangovers. #30

Telling guys I’m 28. #30

Yes, I will RSVP to your botox party! #30 #Miami

How much does it cost to freeze my eggs? #30

Ok, fine, I’ll start a 401k. #30

Did you just call me a cougar?! #30

So, after hammering out the adventures of my 20s, I figured I would keep the train of thought moving right along through my 30s with my most recent musing on topics such as:

  • Dating Apps and International Arms Dealers
  • The Spicy (Mis)Adventures of Single Life on South Beach
  • Losing Friends to Baby Banter and Other Conversation Killers
  • Adventures in Backpacking in Your 30s
  • Surprising Life Lessons to Learn from Middle Schoolers
  • Why 30 is the Sexiest, Sassiest and Scariest Age So Far

And, as I wait for my pad thai take-out to be delivered and blast dance music so I can pretend I’m doing something very exciting on this rainy Saturday night, I guess I’ll start…
